Yang Zuotang’s Calligraphy of Li Qingzhao’s Shuyu Ci
 
Throughout her life, Zuotang deeply admired Li Qingzhao, the preeminent poetess of her era. She was profoundly moved and inspired by Li’s character and the charm of her poetry. With this heartfelt devotion, Zuotang created this calligraphic collection of Li Qingzhao’s Shuyu Ci, as a tribute to the great female master of ci poetry. In this album, Zuotang employs a variety of papers, scripts, compositional styles, and structural forms. The result is rich, diverse, yet harmoniously unified, showcasing different aesthetic effects. The work possesses a high level of overall artistry, refined taste, and both readability and visual appeal—a rare gem in the world of calligraphy, enriching the spiritual lives of those who experience it. Zuotang devoted her lifelong intellect and spirit to completing this masterpiece, with the technical assistance of her husband, Zhu Huixian, in digital production. On the occasion of her seventieth birthday, she dedicated this work to the era she cherishes and to the public, offering it as a homage to her late father, Yang Jianhou.
