​Yang Zuotang

Born in Nanjing in 1948, with ancestral roots in Wuxi, he grew up in an artistic family; his father, Yang Jianhou, trained by Xu Beihong, was a pioneering painter and art educator in China. Guided by his father, he devoted himself to calligraphy, excelling in small regular script (xiaokai) and semi-cursive script (xingshu/cao).

Since the 1990s, his works have featured in exhibitions and major publications worldwide, including solo and joint museum shows, with TV programs highlighting his art. His calligraphy is collected by institutions and private collectors, and he has been invited to inscribe numerous dedications.

He has published several personal calligraphy collections and currently serves as Chairman of the Yang Jianhou Art Foundation, Director of the Jiangsu Xu Beihong Research Association, and Member of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association.
